Richard Whitla LL.B

Richard Whitla

Criminal Law Division

Richard completed his schooling in Cairns before studying law at James Cook University in Townsville.  He completed his Bachelor of Laws degree in 2011 and immediately went on to complete a 12 month traineeship with Groves and Clark Solicitors in Ayr.

Richard was admitted to practice in 2013.  Following his admission, Richard spent nearly 2 years working exclusively as a criminal defence lawyer in Townsville where he gained experience in most areas of crime across different jurisdictions.  After spending 12 months travelling and working in the legal industry in London, Richard returned to North Queensland at the end of 2016 to practice in a family law and domestic violence service.

Richard was soon to return to his passion for criminal law and joined our criminal law division in early 2017.
