Jennifer Hartley LL.B (Hons)

Jennifer Hartley

Senior Associate
Family Law Division

After an earlier career in photography and business management, Jennifer Hartley embarked on her legal studies in 2002.

Jenny graduated from James Cook University in 2006 and commenced her legal career as a trainee solicitor in 2007. Jenny was admitted to practice in 2008.  After practising at Miller Harris Lawyers and the Women’s Legal Service, Jenny joined O'Reilly Stevens Lawyers in 2009.  Jenny has practised exclusively in Family Law since her admission and has a notable record of trials and hearings.

Jenny’s experience includes:

  • Divorce;
  • Property settlements by consent in de facto and marital relationships;
  • Parenting orders by consent;
  • Financial Agreements, before, during and after the breakdown of de facto and marital relationships;
  • Mediation of property and children’s matters in de facto and marital relationships;
  • Litigation of property and children’s matters in de facto and marital relationships;
  • Contravention and enforcement proceedings; and
  • Magellan matters (child abuse claims)

Jenny adopts a very down to earth approach to family law disputes.  No matter is too small or too large.  She is committed to achieving the best outcome for her clients, whilst remaining focused on the need to minimise the stress of the situation.  Being a parent to extremely active children also ensures that Jenny understands the practical side of family law matters, as well as the legal side.
